Ros Niyom

Ros Niyom, Kingsford

Ros Niyom is a contemporary Thai restaurant inspired by the kinetic energy of street food culture and the Mae Klong Railway Market. The interior captures moments of disruption and delight, where flavour, colour, sound, and movement collide to create a dining experience that is bold, immersive, and unmistakably Thai.

Ros Niyom, Kingsford, draws its conceptual foundation from Thai street food culture and the surreal choreography of the Mae Klong Railway Market, where everyday life momentarily fragments and reforms around passing trains. The client brief called for a dining environment that felt unmistakably Thai and to be energetic, and vibrant, thus driving the design to be moving beyond décor creating an experience that mirrors the thrill, heat, and generosity of Thai street dining.

The design embraces tension as a creative driver. Spatial planning is intentionally dynamic, with compressed zones opening into lively communal dining areas, encouraging movement, sharing, and interaction. Circulation paths echo the rhythm of the market, where interruption becomes part of the narrative rather than a flaw.

Materiality is layered and tactile: raw metals, textured tiles, vibrant colours, and patterned surfaces sit alongside utilitarian finishes, referencing street stalls, cookware, and temporary market structures. Lighting is theatrical and responsive, inspired by the constant movement of Thai street food dining.

Within a controlled budget, the project prioritised durability and authenticity, selecting materials that age with character while withstanding the demands of a high-energy hospitality venue. Ros Niyom is designed not as a backdrop, but as an active participant in the dining experience—where disruption sharpens the senses and flavour leads the charge.

Ros Niyom, Glenmore Park

Ros Niyom Glenmore Park is where ‘flavour’ and ‘favour’ meet in one place. As Thai food brings out an explosion of sweet and spicy flavours, these authentic tastes of Ros Niyom have not only been adored by locals, but have also become an integral staple of the Western palette and dining lifestyle.

Inspired by the rich Thai flavours, there is more to Ros Niyom than meets the eye. By combining traditional Thai motifs and recognisable Western elements together, Ros Niyom merges two cultural pieces together to bring a modern twist to the brand.

The restaurant’s interior design is a contemporary approach to traditional Thai colour palette and textures. Natural and earthy tone materials are complimented through the use of rattan and timber curved forms in this casual-dining restaurant. Linear timber dowels used along the banquet seat added depth to vertical surfaces and the brass detailing is accentuated with a contrasting green background. The overall ambience of Ros Niyom Glenmore Park is refined and modern with a creative approach referencing the Thai culture and cuisine.
