Originating from Kamakura, Japan, the brand is known for its delicate, freshly made warabi mochi. This first Sydney store introduces the concept to Australian audiences through a space that blends Japanese minimalism with quiet material warmth. Light timber finishes, soft vertical detailing, and red washi-style pendant lights create an atmosphere that feels both elevated and inviting.

The design balances functionality with heritage expression. Traditional noren curtains, Japanese script signage, and subtle lighting gestures contribute to an environment that honours the brand’s roots while meeting the expectations of a modern Sydney customer.

As the brand’s first presence in Australia, the project highlights the value of working with a local interior designer—particularly when adapting an international concept. Vie Studio ensured that the design intent was preserved while tailoring the execution to locally sourced, regulation-compliant materials, spatial requirements, and building codes. The result is a space that remains authentic to its origins, yet fully aligned with its new cultural and operational context.
